About ISSA of Virginia, Inc

ISSA of Virginia, Inc is a 501(C)(3) non‐profit Community Development Corporation (CDC) based in Norfolk, Virginia, commissioned by the First Baptist Church of Norfolk as an independent vehicle designed to create, partner, leverage, and encourage community development projects that will benefit the Hampton Roads and Greater Norfolk community at large. The name ‘Issa’ means ‘Salvation, God saves.” ISSA of Virginia has been in operation for over 20 years, achieving fully activated non‐profit status in November of 2018, with redrafted bylaws and board creation.

The corporation was specifically founded to provide programs, offer services, and engage in other activities that promote and support community development in the City of Norfolk, Virginia, and in the greater Hampton Roads geographical area. The corporation focuses on serving lower-income residents to enhance the quality of life in this geographical area through, but not limited to, the development of affordable housing. The corporation is involved in a variety of activities, including economic development, education, community organizing, and real estate development.
